Description
Cobble Cottage, located at 76 Main Street, is a cottage built in the later 18th century, with some alterations and a 20th-century addition at the rear. It is a single-storey and attic structure with three bays and a bell-cast roof. The cottage features late 19th-century canted gabled dormers in the attic and a ridge stack. The exterior is constructed from random sandstone rubble, accented with painted ashlar margins, and includes an eaves course and raised margins around the windows and doors. The entrance has a half-glazed timber panelled door, and there are bipartite windows, along with two dormers in the attic.
The windows are timber sash and case style, with 2-pane glazing in the upper sashes and 4-pane glazing in the lower sashes, while the dormers have 4-pane glazing. The chimney stacks are rendered and topped with yellow clay cans. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, and the cottage features cast-iron rainwater goods.
