Description
1A Hill Street in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, is a single-storey, end terraced house built in 1907 by J Donald Mills and Godffrey D B Shepherd, incorporating a pend arch bay from 1888 by Thomas Saunders Robertson. The building features a T-plan layout and is situated on falling ground. It has a rendered exterior that is partially lined, a slate roof, and rendered ridge stacks with decorative cans.
The south elevation includes a bay on the left from 1888, which has a round-headed moulded pend arch and a corbelled, slightly advanced round-headed bipartite window above it on the first floor. There is a rectangular eaves course. To the right, three additional bays from 1907 are stepped up from the left bay and built over a blind basement. The left bay features a canted window with inverted ogival corbelling, a single window in the centre, and a bowed oriel window with demi-spherical corbelling at the advanced bay on the right.
On the north elevation, there is a slightly advanced bay on the left with a window positioned off-centre to the right. A partially glazed door is set back to the right, equipped with a sliding wrought-iron security grille. The bay at the far right is stepped down and has a plain round-headed pend arch with a bipartite casement window above.
