Mark's & Spencer's Department Store, 45 Murraygate, Dundee

Mark's & Spencer's Department Store, located at 45 Murraygate in Dundee, was designed by James Monro and Sons from Glasgow and completed in 1936. This three-storey, five-bay building showcases Art Deco style. The ground floor features recessed plate glass shopfronts with polished surrounds, while the upper floors are finished in painted render and topped with a concealed roof.

The front elevation includes shopfronts on the ground floor, with a fascia frieze above that has a block panel flanked by round panels on either side. The three central bays on the upper floors are slightly recessed, with tall multi-pane metal windows set between pilastered jambs, each topped with a lintel panel, cornice, and a deep parapet above. The flanking bays and the right return also feature similar windows, with recessed panels in the parapet.
