Central Halls, Loyal Order Of Ancient Shepherds, 95, 97 Seagate, Dundee

The Central Halls of the Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds, located at 95 and 97 Seagate in Dundee, was designed by David Baxter of Johnston and Baxter in 1907. This building is a two-storey structure with a basement, featuring eight bays and displaying some simple Renaissance details. It is constructed of red brick, accented with ashlar bands on the ground floor and ashlar details throughout.

The front elevation includes an arched entrance framed by pilaster strips in the third bay from the left. There is a smaller door with a lintel and cornice in the third bay from the right, with a single light positioned above it. The windows are large and thickly mullioned, with two and three lights; the ground floor windows are round-headed while those on the first floor are segmental-headed, all linked by a cill course. The building is topped with a mutule cornice and an open pediment above the main entrance, and features a balustraded parapet. Square section wallhead stacks rise from the slate roof, which is adorned with leaded window panes.

Inside, the building retains its original inner and outer doors, as well as mosaic floors. The stairs are fitted with iron bannisters, and most rooms are modestly detailed.
