Description
32 and 34 Seagate is a four-storey and attic commercial building dating from 1884, featuring five bays and a Renaissance architectural style. The exterior is constructed of cream sandstone ashlar and topped with a slate Mansard roof. The ground floor has a cornice, while there is a cill band on the second and third floors. The main cornice is adorned with pendant corbels, and the corniced parapet includes dormers and an urn finial. The right side of the building has rusticated quoins.
The central three bays have single windows, which are flanked by bipartite windows. These windows are architraved with consoled lintels on the first and second floors. The first-floor center window features a segmental pediment, which is flanked by triangular pediments with shell motifs on the outer bipartites. The third floor has margined windows, and a large three-bay dormer rises through the parapet, showcasing keystoned and pilastered round-headed windows along with a stepped parapet. The outer bays have segmentally-pedimented bipartite dormers, and the glazing consists of two-pane timber sash and case windows.
