Description
Scar Bridge, built in 1801, is a road bridge featuring a single segmental arch that rises high above the Scaur Water. The bridge was widened to the north, retaining its original profile, likely during the first half of the 20th century. It is constructed of squared rubble with a recessed ashlar arch ring on the south side. The flat roadway, which was originally ramped, has been rebuilt with parapets that include terminal blocks. The south parapet slightly splays at the approaches and is connected on the west side to the Capenoch gatepier and quadrant walls.
