Description
Arkland Bridge is a road bridge likely built around 1760, featuring two segmental arches that span Scaur Water. The bridge is constructed from rubble with dressed red ashlar stone used for the dressings and coping of the parapets. It has pointed central cutwaters on either side, and the parapets are splayed at the approaches, leading to square terminal piers topped with pyramidal caps at the north approach. The upper part of the bridge was rebuilt and repointed in 1984.
