Description
Arkland Cottage is a single-storey lodge designed by architect William Blore, built around 1830. It has a rectangular plan and features a gabled porch at the south end of the west wall, with a modern addition at the east (rear). The cottage is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings and hood-moulds. On the west elevation, there is a depressed-arched doorway located in the porch, a single window to the left, and a narrow light between them. The roof has saw-toothed skews, a central apex stack, and is covered with graded slates. Additionally, a Buccleuch monogram is displayed above a bipartite window in the south gable.
