Description
March Cottage, dated 1860, was built as a lodge associated with the Ardvorlich Estate and contributes to the picturesque landscape of the area as a roadside cottage. This 1½-storey, 3-bay gable-fronted cottage features a lower wing at the rear.
Originally, March Cottage likely consisted only of the front rectangular block. The south elevation has a central entrance with a small slated gabled porch, a gabled bay to the left, and a dormer in the right bay. A later addition at the rear includes a 2-storey block that extends almost the full width of the front, with a single door facing north towards the loch.
Inside, despite modernisation, the cottage retains features such as a timber stair and a plain timber chimneypiece. The building is constructed of rubble throughout, topped with a grey slate roof, and includes stone wallhead stacks and clay cans. The windows are timber sash and case lying-pane, and it has cast iron rainwater goods.
