Description
The Roman Camp Gate Lodge at Gordon Castle, built between 1823 and 1824, is a single-storey and attic, three-bay cottage ornée facing west. It features small, single-storey, single-bay wings set back at the north and south gables, along with a rear wing on the east. The exterior is harled.
The central door is concealed by a later gabled timber porch that includes side windows with margined glazing. There are flanking windows with shutters, and very small windows on the west elevation of the north and south wings, with the south wing's window blocked. The lodge has two later canted dormers and varied multi-pane glazing.
It includes end stacks and has a piended and gabled roof made of graded Banffshire slate, which features deep eaves.
