Description
The Fishing Station in Rispond is a lodge dating from the late 18th century. It is a two-storey building with an attic and features three bays. The central door is concealed by a later projecting gabled porch. On either side of the main house are single-storey wings that create a courtyard, which is closed off at the south by a retaining wall. The exterior is finished in white harling.
The building has three later piended dormers and predominantly features four-pane glazing. The west wing has crowsteps, while the east wing has modern glazing and a central door on the south elevation that is accessed by a flight of steps. The lodge has corniced end stacks and slate roofs.
The courtyard is enclosed by a harled and coped retaining wall topped with cast-iron spearhead railings. There are two square harled gate piers with moulded copes and ball finials, matching the cast-iron pedestrian gate.
At the rear of the main house is a cottage from the early 19th century, which is also two-storey and has three bays. Its central door is obscured by a modern lean-to porch.
