Description
The building known as Pier at Ard Neackie is a house from the early 19th century. It is a two-storey, east-facing structure with three bays and a central door, finished with harled exterior. Above the door, there is a worn date-stone and the Sutherland coat of arms. The first-floor windows are small and positioned close to the wallhead, while the north and south gables feature four-pane glazing and plain barge-boards. The roof is made of slate.
Adjacent to the house are kilns dating from around 1870. These consist of two large pairs of oval-section lime kilns, which may have been built slightly differently. The southern pair has round-headed draw arches, while the northern pair features segmental-headed arches and abuts the southern pair at a slight angle. Both pairs are constructed from coursed rubble with tooled rubble dressings.
The kilns are served by a rubble pier that extends into the loch in front of them.
