Description
Burnbrae House is a two-storey, three-bay house located on Corse Road in Penpont Village, dating from the earlier to mid-19th century. It originally had an L-shaped plan, which was altered in the late 19th century to fill the angle. The southwest elevation features red ashlar stone with margins, a channelled doorway with decorative dressings, and rusticated quoins, while the rest of the building is constructed from rubble. The central door is round-headed and set back behind a wide opening with a depressed arch, flanked by fluted white-painted columns and a wide lintel that may not be original. The house has a base course, an eaves and lintel band, corniced end stacks, and a slate roof that is both piended and platform.
