Description
Scar Bridge, built in 1801, is a road bridge featuring a single segmental arch that rises high above the Scaur water. The bridge was widened to the north, maintaining its original profile, likely during the first half of the 20th century. It is constructed of squared rubble with a recessed ashlar arch ring on the south side. The roadway is flat, although it was originally ramped, and has rebuilt parapets with terminal blocks. The south parapet is slightly splayed at the approaches and connects on the west side to the Capenoch gatepier and quadrant walls.
