Description

Scar Bridge in Penpont is an early to mid-19th century road bridge featuring two segmental arches that span the Scaur Water. The bridge is constructed from squared rubble, with a central pier made of bullfaced ashlar that includes pointed cutwaters. The arch rings are recessed, and there is a band course along with parapet coping, all made from polished ashlar. The parapets have been partly rebuilt and are ramped and splayed at the approaches.
