Description
Brae Cottage, located on High Street in New Galloway, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is a single-storey cottage with an attic, designed in an L-shape that includes a barn. The main elevation has three bays facing north, with a long wing extending to the west that provides barns and storage, while the first floor is used for domestic purposes.
The exterior features painted rubble walling, a central door, and single light windows. The ground floor has drop-sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The gabled dormers have been altered with modern brick and feature a 4-pane glazing pattern. The roofs are covered with slate, and there are corniced axial stacks.
