Description

The Thorn is an early 19th century single-storey cottage located in West Port, New Galloway. It is constructed from painted rubble with a boulder basecourse and squared quoins. The cottage features a three-bay frontage with central timber vertical boarded double leaf doors and a narrow fanlight above. On either side of the door are single sash and case windows, each with a 12-pane glazing pattern. There is a central timber gablet dormer and an attic window on the gable end. The roofs are covered with slate and have coped end stacks.
