Garden Cottage, Castle Kennedy, Lochinch Heritage Estate

Garden Cottage, located in the Castle Kennedy, Lochinch Heritage Estate, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone later alterations. It is a single-storey, five-bay cottage constructed of rubble, with some harl and brickwork, and features timber bracketed eaves.

On the west (entrance) elevation, there are two gabled timber entrances positioned in the penultimate bays on the outer left and right. Each entrance has timber finials, with a glazed timber door to the right and a timber door to the left. The central bay contains a bipartite window, while single windows flank the outer left and right sides.

The north (side) elevation is blank. The east (rear) elevation features a single modern window in a recessed bay at the center, a glazed timber door in a recessed re-entrant angle to the right, and single windows in the advanced bays on the outer left and right. There is a corrugated addition on the outer left with a single window.

On the south (side) elevation, there is a single modern window to the right of the gable and a timber door leading to the corrugated lean-to on the outer right.

The cottage has four- and twelve-pane timber sash and case windows, with modern windows on the east and south elevations. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes rooflights, a modillion cornice at the brick ridge stacks, and both circular and polygonal chimney cans.

The interior was not seen in 1999.
