Gates And Boundary Walls, Gate Piers, Castle Kennedy, Lochinch Heritage Estate

These 18th-century gate piers, gates, and boundary walls form an impressive entrance to Castle Kennedy, located within the Lochinch Heritage Estate and accessed after crossing the adjacent Castle Kennedy bridge. The gate piers are square in plan, with corniced tops, and are finished with obelisk finials resting on ball feet. A decorative two-leaf iron gate, with a curved apex, spans the entrance. The boundary walls are constructed from coped rubble and are flanked by additional piers matching the design of the main gate piers. The entrance marks a significant feature within the wider estate, which includes several other listed buildings and structures. Historic maps from 1782 show the bridge at this location, and various historical publications further document the estate and its features throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
