Description

The White Loch Boathouse, located at Castle Kennedy in the Lochinch Heritage Estate, was likely designed by Brown & Wardrop in 1869. This single-storey building with an attic features a three-bay layout and is situated on the shore of White Loch. It is constructed of whinstone with granite dressings and quoins, and has timber bracketed eaves.

On the south elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is an advanced gabled keystoned semicircular entrance arch with single timber doors leading to recessed bays. The north elevation, or rear, has a central tripartite shouldered-arched window flanked by blank bays.

The east side elevation includes a timber door on the right and a tripartite shouldered-arched window on the left, along with a central bipartite dormer window in the attic. The west side elevation features a tripartite shouldered-arched window to the right, a bipartite shouldered-arched window to the left, and a central bipartite dormer window in the attic.

The boathouse has timber lattice windows with margin panes, a grey slate roof with red ridge tiles, and decorative iron cresting. Inside, there is a stone perimeter path, timber columns, an open timber roof, and an oars room located at the rear.
