Description

Willowbank is a two-storey and basement house built after 1850, featuring three bays. The western elevation is constructed from whin rubble, squared and snecked, with polished granite dressings, raised margins, and rusticated quoins. There is a later two-storey wing attached at the ridge level to the east, made of brick on the north and south sides and painted rubble on the east side.

On the western elevation, there is an ashlar doorcase at the center, complete with a cornice and blocking course. The entrance features a panelled door with a plate glass fanlight, and granite steps with a cast-iron balustrade that extends over the basement. The windows are regularly arranged, with smaller windows on the first floor and a window in each outer bay at the basement level.

The southern elevation has a window on the left side at the first floor and a boarded opening on the right at ground level. The northern elevation has a window on the right at the first floor and a boarded opening on the right at ground level.

On the eastern elevation, there is a window on the ground and first floors to the right. The wing is attached to the left and center, with a blank east gable built into the hillside. There is a door on the left and two windows on both the ground and first floors to the south, as well as two windows on both floors to the north, including a bipartite window on the left at ground level.

The windows throughout the house are sash and case, with four-pane glazing on the western elevation and a mix of plate glass, four-pane, and twelve-pane glazing on the other elevations. The wing features sawtooth skews, and there are gablehead stacks on the north, south, and east sides. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, which are larger on the wing, and it has tall square chimney cans.
