Description

Penkiln Suspension Bridge, located in Minnigaff, was designed by engineers D H and F Reid from Victoria Bridge Works in Ayr and was completed on 22 June 1911. This cast and wrought iron footbridge spans the River Cree in a single span. Major structural repairs were carried out in 1982 by Craich and Hogg, with W & J Barr as contractors. The bridge features slim lattice girder pylons that support the cables, an arched sheet metal deck, and lattice girder parapets.
