Description
56 High Street in Gatehouse of Fleet is a wide, two-storey, three-bay terraced house that dates back to the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building features smooth rendering that mimics ashlar stonework, with raised moulded margins.
The entrance is located at the extreme left, consisting of a pend door, while the central doorway is hoodmoulded and has a double-leaf door with a fanlight above. The flanking door has bipartite windows, which are also hoodmoulded. On the first floor, there are bipartite windows on either side of a central single light. All windows are sash and case with plate glass.
The house has coped end stacks on the right side and a slate roof.
