Description
55 High Street in Gatehouse of Fleet is a pair of late 18th century, two-storey, two-bay terraced cottages. The cottages have rendered walls and raised cills, and they may be constructed of brick. The central entrance features a pend door flanked by doors to each house, all of which have fanlights above.
No. 53 has an enlarged bipartite window on the ground floor and single light windows on the first floor, both with depressed arch heads. The windows are sash and case style, with the upper sash having three panes and the lower sash being a single plate glass.
No. 55 features all single light sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing. Both cottages have end stacks with thackstanes, a sandstone ridge, and good graded slate roofs.
