Carlton House, 21 South Crescent, Portpatrick

Carlton House is an earlier 19th century, two-storey and attic classical house with a near rectangular plan, located at 21 South Crescent in Portpatrick, facing the harbour. The building is constructed of whinstone, with rubble on the sides. It features a blocking course, painted quoins, painted margins around the windows, and stone mullions for the bipartite windows.

On the southwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a central entrance that is pilastered, corniced, and topped with a block pediment. The entrance includes a recessed timber door, with a single window aligned above it on the first floor. Flanking the entrance are bipartite windows on both the ground and first floors. The attic features segmental-arched dormers on the outer left and right.

The house has modern windows and solar panels, a grey slate roof, brick gablehead stacks, and polygonal chimney cans. The interior was not seen in 1997.
