Description

The Cross Keys Hotel, located at 10 and 12 Main Street in Portpatrick, is an earlier 19th century building that consists of a pair of two-storey and attic, three-bay L-plan houses, which now serve as part of the hotel. The exterior features painted render, a base course, and margins around the windows.

On the northwest entrance elevation, there is a central entrance to No 10, which includes a timber door with a letterbox fanlight, and a single window directly above it on the first floor. The flanking bays have regular fenestration. At the attic level, there are canted dormers on the outer left and right sides. No 12 also has a central entrance, featuring a consoled, corniced doorpiece with a timber door and letterbox fanlight, along with a single window aligned above on the first floor. The flanking bays have regular fenestration, except for a timber door located in the bay to the right at ground level. The attic features a continuous three-light flat-roofed dormer.

The building has modern windows and a rooflight. It is topped with a grey slate roof, stone skews, a broad coped stack, and circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1997.
