Description
Anglesea is an earlier 19th century terraced house located at 51 Main Street in Portpatrick. It is a two-storey building with a basement and attic, featuring a three-bay rectangular plan and a circular stair tower at the rear. The southeast elevation has a harled finish, while the northeast and northwest elevations are made of painted rubble. Architectural details include a lintel course, blocking course, quoin strips, and margins around the windows.
The southeast entrance elevation has steps leading to two entrances on the outer left. To the right, there is a two-panel timber door, and to the left, a boarded timber pend door, both topped with letterbox fanlights. Above these doors, there is a single window on the first floor. The two bays to the right have regular fenestration, and there is a flat-roofed single dormer in the attic.
The northeast side elevation is blank. The northwest rear elevation features steps leading to the stair tower on the outer right, with a modern door and a single window to the right of the door, aligned above it. There is also a door at the center of the basement and two single windows on the ground and first floors.
The house has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a skylight. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended style, with a broad, tall, coped wallhead stack on the northeast side and circular cans.
The property is enclosed by low coped boundary walls. The interior was not seen in 1997.
