73 Restalrig Road, Edinburgh

73 Restalrig Road is a terraced house built around 1810, featuring two storeys, three bays, a raised basement, and an attic. The front is made of ashlar sandstone, with polished and rusticated stone on the ground floor, and droved stone on the basement and first floor, accented by polished dressings. The rear is constructed from squared and snecked rubble. Architectural details include a base course, a band course, a mutuled eaves cornice, and a blocking course.

On the southwest (principal) elevation, the house has regularly spaced openings. There is a panelled door in the outer right ground floor bay, topped with a rectangular plate glass fanlight. To the left, a large canted dormer is present, along with two rooflights above the outer right bay and basement windows.

The northeast elevation has a regular two-bay layout, featuring a modern door in the outer left ground floor bay. A canted dormer is located in the centre, with two rooflights to the right.

The windows include plate glass timber sash and case windows in the first and second bays of the ground and first floors at the front, as well as in the dormer above. The basement has four-pane timber sash and case windows, and there are additional windows in the third bay on the first floor and the rear dormer. The right bay at the rear features twelve-pane timber sash and case windows. The house has mutual multi-flue, ashlar wallhead stacks with coping and ashlar coped skews.

The interior was not seen in 1995. The boundary wall consists of a coursed rubble dwarf wall with ashlar coping and modern railings facing the street. There are eight stone steps leading down to the door, oversailing the basement.
