Description

Circa 1810. 6-bay, 2-storey, stepped, mirrored pair of terraced houses with attic and basement. Droved ashlar sandstone to front with polished ashlar dressings; squared and snecked rubble to NW gable wall and rear. Base course, eaves cornice and blocking course. Architraved openings at ground and 1st floor; corniced at ground.

SW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical composition with architraved and corniced entrance doors to bays 3 and 4; panelled with rectangular plate glass fanlight to No 69; modern patterned rectangular fanlight at No 71. Stone steps oversailing basements with modern railings. Regularly fenestrated; basement windows; rectangular dormers above outer bays; 2 rooflights over central bays.

NE ELEVATION: 2-bay with regular windows. Modern rectangular dormers over bays 1 and 3.

NW ELEVATION: blank gable wall.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows to front; 4-pane sash and case windows to rear at No 69; modern glazing to rear at No 71 and to dormers. Grey slate roof: piended and slate-hung dormers. Ashlar coped multi-flue wallhead stacks; skew copes.

INTERIOR: not seen (1995).

BOUNDARY WALL: coursed rubble dwarf wall, with ashlar coping and modern railings, to street.
