75-77 Restalrig Road, Edinburgh

75-77 Restalrig Road is a two-storey, four-bay terraced house built around 1810, featuring a raised basement and attic. The front is made of ashlar sandstone, polished and rusticated at the ground floor, and droved at the basement and first floor with polished dressings. The sides and rear are constructed from squared and snecked rubble. Architectural details include a base course, band course, mutulated eaves cornice, and a blocking course.

The southwest elevation has regularly spaced openings, with doors in the two left bays at the ground floor, each featuring rectangular plate glass fanlights. There is a blocked window in the second bay on the first floor, and a canted dormer over the two right-hand bays, along with a small skylight between the first and second bays. Basement windows are also present.

The southeast elevation is gabled, with a door at the centre of the basement level and windows at intermediate levels, the uppermost of which has a cast-iron window guard. A modern window is located left of centre between the ground and first floor.

On the northeast elevation, there are three bays arranged in a 2-1 grouping. Bays one and two on the first floor have ornamental cast-iron window guards. This elevation features two rectangular dormers and a small rooflight near the ridge.

The ground floor and the third bay on the first floor at the rear have plate glass timber sash and case windows. The front-facing first floor openings have four-pane timber sash and case windows, while the dormer above has a 16-pane timber sash and case window flanked by two four-pane sash and case windows. The remaining openings have modern glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring piended and slate-hung dormers. The chimney stacks are made of droved ashlar with coping, including a mutual stack on the outer left, and the skews are ashlar coped.

The boundary wall consists of an ashlar coped dwarf wall with modern railings facing the street, and there are eight stone steps leading down to the basement door.
