1 Pilrig Street, Edinburgh

1 Pilrig Street is an early 19th-century, two-storey and attic, three-bay terraced town house with a basement. The building features a cream sandstone front with droved ashlar and polished dressings, while the basement is made of coursed and squared rubble, with coursed rubble on the rear and side. It has a base course, a band course above the basement, and a dentilled eaves cornice with a blocking course.

On the southwest (front) elevation, there is a doorway in the right bay with oversailing steps, a pilastered doorpiece, a panelled door, and a rectangular plate glass fanlight. The ground floor windows are architraved and corniced, with single windows above and in the remaining bays. A rectangular bipartite dormer, slate-hung, is located above.

The southeast elevation features a blank gable with an apex stack, which is abutted at the ground floor by a neighbouring building. The northeast (rear) elevation has a full-height bowed bay to the left and single windows.

The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing. The roof is covered in black slate with lead flashings, featuring an apex stack and a coped mutual stack.

The interior was not seen in 1993. The property has a low boundary wall at the front with flat coping and remains of original railings, along with railings leading to the steps.
