16 Pilrig Street, Edinburgh

20 Pilrig Street in Edinburgh is a classical terrace building constructed in 1821 by builder David Sutherland. It is a two-storey and attic structure featuring nine bays, made of sandstone ashlar. The building has projecting cills and a mutulated cornice.

The principal elevation includes pilastered and corniced doorpieces with fanlights located in the first, sixth, and seventh bays. The remaining bays have deep-set windows, and there is regular fenestration above. The dormers include piended and canted tripartite designs for Nos 16 and 18, while No 20 features a box dormer and rooflights.

The south gable elevation is harled and adjoins a neighboring property. The building has timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, a roof covered in grey slates, and gablehead and ridge stacks with terracotta cans, along with coped skews.

The interior was not seen in 1998. The boundary walls consist of low rubble walls topped with ashlar copes.
