Description
Muirhead is a building that consists of two distinct parts. The first part is an earlier 19th century farmhouse wing, which is a single-storey, three-bay cottage that is built against the existing farmhouse and shares a common long wall. The exterior is harled with ashlar margins and features slate roofs.
The cottage faces east and has a panelled door with a fanlight set in a pilastered doorcase. It includes corniced openings and sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. There are end stacks, each with a pair of diamond flues, and the roof is piended.
The existing farmhouse is a single storey with an attic and has a gabled roof that features end and axial stacks. It also has west ranges that lead to the steading courtyard.
