Description
St George's Cottage, located at Arthur's Place in Lockerbie, is a single-storey, three-bay villa built in the later 19th century, featuring Greek revival ornamentation. The exterior is constructed of channelled red ashlar with raised quoins. The right gable is advanced and includes a crenellated porch that has a panelled door with sidelights, situated in a re-entrant angle. The windows are sash style with a 4-pane glazing pattern, and they have consoled cills and block pediments topped with acroteria. The cottage has end stacks and a broad-eaved slate roof, along with distinctive decorative cast-iron barge-boards on the east gable. The property is set behind a low boundary wall, which includes gatepiers with shaped caps.
