Description
Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, built between 1874 and 1875, is a well-detailed rectangular-plan Gothic church located at Arthur's Place in Lockerbie. The church features a prominent square tower at the southeast corner topped with a spire. It is constructed of red ashlar stone, both snecked and polished, and showcases polychrome arches. The tower consists of two lower stages with plate-traceried windows on the ground floor and diagonal buttresses. The third stage, which is offset and serves as the belfry, is broached to support an eight-sided lucarned tall spire. The entrance includes a double doorway with nook-shafts and gablets above, along with a quatrefoil rose window at the gallery level. The flanks of the church are adorned with plate-traceried windows, and there is a vestry located at the northeast. The roofs are covered with slate.
Inside, the church retains the organ tubes on the north gable, although the organ itself has been replaced by an altar. The gallery at the south features an elaborate panelled front and is supported by a pair of cast-iron columns. Most of the original pews have been preserved.
