Description
St John's Episcopal Church, located on Broad Street in Alloa, was designed by Sir R Rowand Anderson and built between 1867 and 1869, with additional work completed in 1872. This church is an example of early Geometrical architecture.
The structure features a nave, chancel, north aisle, a southwest tower, and a broach spire. It is constructed from snecked rubble with a rough finish, and the architectural details are largely uncarved. Notably, there is no clerestory. The spire includes three double bands of red sandstone and one single band at the top. Inside, there is a reredos created by Salviati, stained glass by C E Kemple, and various monuments.
