Description
Star House, located at 25 Kirkgate in Alloa, was built in 1695 by Tobias Bauchop for himself. This two-storey building features four windows and is constructed from ashlar stone, with a central door on the ground floor. The roof is crowstepped. All openings are architraved, and there is a fine sundial at the center of the first floor, which includes a cartouche with the initials "TB ML" from 1695. The building showcases high-quality carved work, including acanthus skewputs. The eastmost ground floor window has been altered. At the back, there is a wing and some later unsightly additions, along with a paved yard and the remains of a gateway.
