Description
Manor House, located at No. 114 on High Street in Long Crendon, dates from around 1680, possibly the 1660s. This two-storey building with an attic is constructed of rubble stone, featuring brick quoins, a first-floor string course, and architraves, some of which are rendered to imitate ashlar. It has a moulded wood cornice and a hipped roof covered with old tiles, which includes a central valley and occasional dormers. The house has a rectangular block design with five bays on the north and south fronts and four bays on the east and west.
The original windows are cross transomed and mullioned, fitted with old rectangular leaded glazing, although some have been renewed. The north front features a four-panel central door topped with a rectangular fanlight and a flat hood. The east front has been stuccoed, and early 19th-century sash windows have been inserted. Inside, the ground floor south-east room retains original bolection moulded panelling. There is a good original staircase with turned balusters and an arch on the landing, along with original panelling and stone fireplaces in several first-floor rooms.
