Description

Later 19th century. 3-storey, symmetrical 9-bay terrace of 4, 2-bay houses with pend to centre, set back from road with forecourts built up with later shops. Grey sandstone, stugged ashlar to front, variegated coursed rubble to rear. Base course; architraved doorways accessed at 1st floor by steps with rectangular plate glass fanlight (3-pane fanlight No 334), panelled doors; dentilled eaves cornice; channelled quoins.

SE (FRONT) ELEVATION: segmental-arched pend to centre with bull?s-eye window divided by timber mullion above. Bays to left and right of centre doorways under shared cornice; single windows at 2nd floor above. Doorways to outer left and outer right bays; single windows at 2nd floor above. Single windows to remaining bays. Modern box dormers to houses to right of centre; canted bowed dormer and small rectangular dormer to left of centre, velux rooflights to outer left.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: single windows; central wallhead stack.

Timber sash and case windows, plate glass and 12-pane glazing. Grey slate roof with lead flashings; wallhead stack (see above), mutual coped stacks (rendered or rebuilt).

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.

RAILINGS AND LAMP STANDARDS: original cast-iron railings to steps of Nos 336, 340; remains of cast-iron lamp standards No 346.
