Description
322 Leith Walk is a later 19th century, four-storey tenement building featuring eight bays arranged in a 4-1-3 pattern, set back with a front garden. The front elevation is constructed of cream sandstone, with polished ashlar at the ground floor and droved ashlar above, while the rear is made of squared and snecked stugged rubble. The building has a base course, a banded cill course at the first and third floors, and an eaves cornice with a blocking course. The doorways are adorned with rectangular plate glass fanlights, panelled doors, and consoled cornices.
On the southeast (front) elevation, there is a doorway to the common stair located in the bay to the right of centre, flanked by windows. The doorways to the main door flats are accompanied by two windows on both the outer right and outer left. The fenestration above is regular.
The northwest (rear) elevation features stair windows in the centre and single windows in the remaining bays. The front elevation has four-pane timber sash and case windows, with lying-panes flanking the centre doorway, while the rear has 12-pane windows. The roof is slate, with coped mutual stacks.
Inside, there is a stone common stair with plain cast-iron balusters and a timber handrail, along with six-pane fanlights above the flat doors.
The boundary wall is a low rendered rubble wall at the front, topped with saddleback coping, and includes later gates and railings.
