Description
314 and 316 Leith Walk is an early 19th-century tenement building that originally had three storeys but was raised to five storeys in the later 19th century. It underwent restoration in the 1980s, which included the addition of a later shopfront in what was previously a garden area. The front elevation is rendered over stugged ashlar at the first and second floors, with smooth render on the later storeys above, while the rear is finished with rendered rubble.
The front elevation features a projecting flat-roofed shopfront at the ground floor, with a doorway at the center that is now obscured by the shopfront and leads into a pend running behind it. There is a single window in each bay and on each floor above, along with two Velux rooflights.
The rear elevation includes a semi-circular stairwell and single windows. The building has multi-pane timber sash and case windows, a slate roof with lead flashings, and broad, shallow cross-sectioned mutual stacks.
The interior was not seen during the assessment in 1993.
