Description
296 Leith Walk is an early 19th century, three-storey, five-bay tenement building. It features later shopfronts that project into what was once a garden area. The exterior is harled with raised margins.
On the front elevation, there are projecting flat-roofed shops at the ground floor, with single windows above on the first and second floors. The rear elevation has four bays, including a tall stair window to the left of the center and single windows in the remaining bays. The northeast elevation is gabled and has an apex stack.
The building has four-pane timber sash and case windows and a purple slate roof with lead flashings. There are two rendered brick apex stacks, which are mostly octagonal in shape. The interior was not seen in 1993.
