Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey and attic 3-bay tenement with shops at ground floor and basement to rear. Coursed whinstone rubble, squared and snecked stugged sandstone front with rock-faced dressings.

E (FRONT) ELEVATION: pend opening with stop-chamferd lintel to outer left. 2 good shopfronts flanking common stair doorway to right, roll-moulded surrounds; psnelled doors and continuous fascia with console brackets and fleur-de-lys gablets. Single windows at 1st floor; 2 canted dormers flanking gabled louvred ventilator with carved brackets.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-storey; irregular openings (altered), 2 modern dormers; wraggle of former gabled addition.

S (ELEVATION): gabled with apex stack; wraggle of former gable adjoining.

4-pane timber sash and case windows to front, some 12-pane and replacement windows to rear. 2-leaf panelled doors. Purple slate roof. 2 apex stacks.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.
