Description
15 Northgate in Peebles is a pair of terraced houses from the earlier 19th century, likely incorporating some earlier elements. Each house is two stories tall and has three bays, with shops on the ground floor. The exterior is rendered with painted ashlar margins and features a base course.
No. 11 has a steeply pitched roof that suggests it may have 18th-century origins. On the ground floor, there is a central door, a modern shop window and door to the right, and a bipartite window to the left. The first floor has a central window flanked by bipartite windows, along with a cast-iron rooflight and dormers at the rear. The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass. The roof is steeply pitched, covered in grey slates, with concrete skews and a large rendered apex stack with thackstanes.
No. 15 features a pend on the left side providing access to the house. The ground floor has two windows in the center and a shop to the right, which includes a two-leaf panelled door and a plate glass window. The first floor has three windows and a cast-iron rooflight, along with a major extension at the rear. The windows are also 4-pane timber sash and case. The roof is similarly covered in grey slates, with a brick apex stack and a moulded cast-iron eaves gutter.
The interiors were not seen during the 1994 inspection.
