Description
Glencorse House, located at 5 and 7 Northgate in Peebles, is a mid to later 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house featuring classical architectural details. The exterior is finished with smooth render that simulates ashlar, while the rear is covered in pebble-dash. It has a base course and architraved windows.
On the east (front) elevation, the bays are widely spaced, with a central doorway framed by a Greek Doric columned doorpiece and a panelled door. The fenestration is regular, and a modern shopfront has been inserted to the right. There are also two canted dormers.
The south (Bridgegate) elevation is gabled and features an apex stack. It has a doorway in the centre and a window on the first floor to the right.
The west (rear) elevation includes a small extension on the outer left and a wallhead stack in the centre.
The interior was not seen during the inspection in 1994.
