Description
6 and 8 West Port in Selkirk is a later 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay terraced tenement that includes shops on the ground floor and regularly arranged windows on the first floor. The building features stugged ashlar with droved ashlar dressings, a base course, a fascia and cornice above the ground floor, quoin strips, and an eaves course.
On the southeast elevation, there is a window in the center at ground level with an inset door immediately to the right. To the right, there is another window at ground level, along with a modern panelled door on the outer right, which has a rectangular plate glass fanlight above it. To the left, there is a window in the bay with a door on the outer left, featuring a two-panelled lower section and a plate glass upper panel, along with a square fanlight above.
The northwest elevation was not visible in 1995. The first floor has modern glazing, while the ground floor features fixed plate glass windows. The building has a slate roof with an ashlar coped stack to the southwest and profile guttering. The interior was not seen in 1995.
