Description
22 West Port in Selkirk is a late 19th-century, two-storey, four-bay terraced tenement that features shops on the ground floor. The building is constructed from stugged squared and snecked ashlar, with droved ashlar dressings and an eaves course.
The southeast elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a plate glass shop front on either side of the central door, which has two lower panels and a plate glass upper panel, topped with a rectangular fanlight. Each two-bay group has a continuous fascia and cornice above. There is a window in each bay on the first floor, with bipartite windows in the outer bays.
The northwest elevation was not visible in 1995. The building has 8-pane timber sash and case windows and a slate roof that is platformed at the apex, featuring recent slate-hung box dormers in the outer bays. The structure includes harled mutual stacks, profile guttering, and a coped skew to the southwest with a skewputt.
The interior was not seen in 1995.
