24 Frederick Street, Edinburgh

24 Frederick Street is a former tenement building constructed between 1786 and 1792. It is a three-storey and attic structure with nine bays, designed in a classical style and built from droved cream sandstone ashlar. The ground floor has been adapted for shops, and there is an additional storey with a further attic above the four northern bays, which features a flagpole. The building has a common stair located at the center, and it is topped with a mutuled eaves cornice.

Above the common stair, there is a corniced tripartite box dormer, while to the left, there are two piend-roofed dormers, one of which is bipartite. The northern side features a pair of bipartite box dormers. The windows are timber sash and case, with 12-pane windows on the southern side, and lower plate glass sash windows at the first floor, while the northern side has plate glass windows. The building has ashlar coped skews, with a stack removed from the southern side, rendered stacks at the center, and corniced stone stacks to the north, all covered with grey slates.

Inside, the shops have been modernized, and there is modern access to the tenement stair, with many alterations made to incorporate a lift and offices.
