Description
21-27 Hanover Street is a former classical tenement built between 1784 and 1790, with some alterations made at the ground level. The building is three stories high with an attic and features five bays. It is constructed of droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The right bay is broader and has an arched doorpiece with a keystone, which contains a modern door leading to a common stair. The building has an eaves cornice and two mid-19th century dormers with piend roofs, one of which is larger and tripartite. The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass, and one 12-pane window remains. The roof is covered with grey slates. The interior has modern shops, while the flats were not seen during the inspection in 1995.
