6 Albany Street, Edinburgh

6 Albany Street is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey terraced classical house with an attic and basement. It features polished ashlar sandstone with V-jointed rustication on the principal floor and broached ashlar at the basement. The building has a base course, band courses between the basement and principal floor, as well as between the principal and first floors, a cill course at the first floor, and cornices with a former blocking course at both the first floor and attic. The entrance is an ashlar platt that oversails the basement.

On the south elevation, there is a six-panel timber door with a radial rectangular fanlight in the left bay at the principal floor, with windows in the remaining bays on the same floor. The upper floors and basement have regular fenestration, and there are a pair of modern windows in a modern attic addition. The basement area is flagged.

The west and east elevations adjoin other terraces, which are listed separately. The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, and it has cast-iron rainwater goods. There is a broached ashlar ridge stack that is coped and features circular cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1998. The property has ashlar copes topped with cast-iron railings that have spear-headed and urn finials.
